Brief narrative |
ALIJIS RESIDENTS SLAM DEMOLITION BY PATRICK PANGILINAN Tuesday, September 30, 2008 The Visayan Daily Star------------- Purok Mainuswagon residents in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, whose houses were demolished yesterday, decried their ejection from the land that they claimed to have paid for long ago. The owners of the 15 homes cleared in Alijis questioned the writ of execution from the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 7. Sheriff Ramon Alba led the demolition. Ludy Carzon, whose concrete and wooden house was to be demolished today, asked why they are being ejected from the property she had bought and had been staying on since 1979. Other residents echoed her claims as they stood on a sidewalk with their belongings, not knowing where they would spend the night. Alba showed the DAILY STAR a copy of the writ of execution for the demolition of the houses in favor of Sta. Agueda Farms Inc. Merlyn Prajes of the urban poor group, Kadamay, said they will contest the demolition order in court, saying the residents have deeds of sale to prove their ownership. After Alba’s team had left the area yesterday, four armed security guards arrived in the area, and its entrance was marked as a private property.*PP -------------------------Article found at: http://www.visayandailystar.com/2008/September/30/topstory8.htm------------------------ | ||||||||
