Brief narrative |
Preparations for the 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting led to the relocation of Kampala`s street children. The children were taken to a holding centre which was described as an inadequate facility. The government was taking measures to prevent children from returning to Kampala on their own. At the time the event was reported, the relocation was voluntary but was to become mandatory.
