The Housing and Land Rights Network in India has just released a report of a fact-finding mission on forced evictions carried out in Delhi for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The report highlights the human rights violations and continued suffering of individuals and families who have lost their homes and livelihoods because of the Commonwealth Games in the capital city. The latest report follows adetailed fact-finding mission across 19 sites in Delhi from which the government forcibly evicted families under various pretexts for the Commonwealth Games. It identifies 15 types of human rights violations that accompany the dispossession and displacement of Delhi’s poorest.
