What better way to commemorate World Human Rights Day than with HIC’s Housing and Land Rights Network (HIC-HLRN) Land Times? Today’s 21st issue reports on the role of civil society resisting the COVID-19 crisis and supporting the subsistence of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities often targeted with violations of their housing and land rights.

The reporting from the Middle East/North Africa covers Palestine, Sudan, Western Sahara and Yemen, as well as cross-regional issues such as civil society messages to the recent FAO Near East Regional Conference.

Meanwhile, Member News outlines HIC Member priorities for the next three years, and Land Research Center-Jerusalem portrays agriculture and farmers as indispensable in the resistance to colonization in Palestine.

Reporting upon global issues introduces HIC-HLRN’s World Habitat Day report, A Pandemic of Violations, the emergence of land as a vital factor in subsistence during the pandemic, HIC’s support to urban food insecure communities in global policy deliberations, and food security policy in protracted crises.

Country-specific articles also report on HIC Member activities to support and restore the rights of women dispossessed of their housing and land in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
