As co-sponsor of this important event, HIC-HLRN cordially invite you to join a high-level side event organized by human rights organizations* and the permanent missions of Malaysia, Namibia, Pakistan, Palestine and South Africa, in parallel to the 49th session of the Human Rights Council entitled Examining the applicability and implications of the apartheid framework to Israel’s repressive rule over the Palestinian people.

The hybrid event, which will be held on 22 March at 13:00 CET,aims to discuss the findings of the latest and final report of Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk in the context of mounting recognition of Israeli authorities’ commission of the crime of apartheid by civil society, UN treaty bodies, UN Special Procedures, and UN member states.

To attend online kindly register here.

Alongside the Special Rapporteur and representatives of member states, representatives from civil society organizations (Al-Haq, Al Mezan, Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch) will present their legal analysis on Israel’s establishment and maintenance of a regime of racial domination and oppression over the Palestinian people and provide recommendations on the adoption of effective measures to overcome apartheid, including through joint action at the United Nations.

We look forward to your attendance.
