On 25–27 October 2017, HIC’s Housing and Land Rights Network will organize the 6th round of its Land Forum for the Middle East/North Africa in Tunis.

This time, the periodic HIC Middle East/North Africa event will be the first-ever civil-society effort dedicated to building capacity for implementing, monitoring and evaluating performance of the international Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Forests and Fisheries in the region. HIC-HLRN’s 6th Land Forum in Tunis is largely supported by FAO of the United Nations and civil society participants from Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Tunisia, Western Sahara and Yemen.

The outcomes of the Land Forum will advance CSO cooperation with FAO Regional Initiatives and identify gaps and priorities to be filled by civil society programs and advocacy. The event also serves as a platform for civil society cooperation in FAO’s Near East Regional Conference 34 (NERC34), scheduled for May 2018.
